Dr. Thomas Nakamura, DDS

Dr. Thomas Nakamura has been placing dental implants for more than twenty years and was one of the first surgeons at Molly to plan every case with guided surgery. He earned his DDS at the USC School of Dentistry and completed a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He practiced in the San Fernando Valley before joining Molly, and he helped open Molly Burbank in 2018 and Molly Valencia a year later.

His work today centers on implants: single teeth, Teeth in a Day for patients who qualify, and full-arch reconstruction with Dr. Olivia Grant, the prosthodontist at Burbank. He also sees a steady stream of patients with implants placed years ago that now have bone loss, infection or a loose crown. For those he explains the options plainly, from cleaning and grafting around the implant to removing it and starting again, and he works with the patient’s dentist on the restoration.

Dr. Nakamura is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Patients call him methodical. He prints the surgical guide plan for them, walks through it, and tells them which part of the day will feel longest. Referring dentists value that he sends a written report after every case and that he is candid when a failing implant is better left to heal before trying again.
