Dr. Priya Raman, DDS, MD

Dr. Priya Raman is Molly’s oral pathology lead in San Diego County. She earned her DDS at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and her MD at the University of Michigan Medical School, completed her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Michigan, and then completed a fellowship in head and neck oncologic and microvascular surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She joined Molly La Jolla in 2013.

Dentists across San Diego refer patients to her for sores, patches and lumps that need a closer look. She performs a careful head and neck exam, takes a biopsy when it is warranted, usually under local anesthesia, and walks each patient through the pathology report. Most results are benign. When they are not, she coordinates care with head and neck oncology teams so the next step is clear. She also treats TMJ disorders, beginning with conservative care and working with Dr. Steven Novak, Molly’s orofacial pain specialist.

Dr. Raman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She wrote Molly’s guide to oral cancer screening and speaks to community groups about tobacco, alcohol, HPV and sun exposure as risk factors. Patients describe her as calm and precise, and they appreciate that she calls with results herself.
