About Dr. Sullivan

Dr. Megan Sullivan has been the steady presence at Molly Mission Viejo since 2012. She earned her DDS at the Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha and completed a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She moved to South Orange County after residency and has stayed at the same office ever since, which her long-time patients appreciate.

Her focus is implants and the foundation they need. Many of her patients are retirees from Laguna Woods and Rancho Santa Margarita who have worn dentures for years and lost bone along the way. She evaluates them on a 3D CBCT scan, grafts bone where it is needed, and places implants to anchor a snap-on or fixed denture, working with the patient’s dentist or a Molly prosthodontist on the final teeth. When a tooth has to come out, she often preserves the socket at the same visit so an implant remains an option later.

Dr. Sullivan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She wrote Molly’s guide to whether you need a bone graft for an implant. Patients describe her as patient and thorough. She brings an implant model to every consultation, lets people hold it, and explains why a graft may add a few months but often leads to a better result.

Outside the operating room

She hikes O’Neill Regional Park with her two Labradors and surfs the gentle peaks at San Onofre on summer evenings.

What patients say about Dr. Sullivan

Google

At 78 I was not sure implants made sense. Dr. Sullivan was patient and frank, and Brian, the nurse practitioner, went through all my medications with my cardiologist. My lower denture now stays in. I ate corn on the cob at Thanksgiving.
