Dr. Lucas Moreau, DDS, MS

Dr. Lucas Moreau is a periodontist, a specialist in the gums and the bone that support teeth and implants. He earned his DDS at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and completed his specialty training and a Master of Science in periodontics at the UCLA School of Dentistry. He joined Molly Irvine in 2010 and also sees patients at Molly Mission Viejo.

His work often comes before or after an implant. He performs gum grafts for receding gums and thin tissue around teeth and implants, using tissue from the palate or donor material depending on the case. He grafts bone and preserves sockets after extractions so that implants have a solid foundation, and he uses platelet-rich fibrin, made from the patient’s own blood, to support healing in selected grafts. He works with the Molly surgeons in Orange County on cases where both the bone and the gums need attention.

Dr. Moreau is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Patients say he is gentle and thorough, and that he explains gum recession with photos and measurements so they can see the change over time. He is careful to say when watching and better home care is a reasonable choice, and when a graft is likely to help.
