Brian O'Connell, MSN, FNP-C

Brian O'Connell is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who helps prepare patients for surgery and supports them afterward at Molly’s Newport Beach, Irvine and Mission Viejo offices. He earned his BSN at the University of San Francisco, worked for several years as an emergency department nurse, and completed his Master of Science in Nursing, family nurse practitioner track, at UC Irvine. He joined Molly in 2016.

Before IV sedation, he reviews health histories, medications and recent lab results, and coordinates with patients’ physicians when medical clearance is needed. On surgery days he helps monitor patients in recovery. Afterward he sees patients with swelling, pain or other concerns, often the same day, and helps triage calls to the 24/7 surgeon line. Patients say he is practical and kind, and that he takes the time to explain their medications.
