About Dr. Weiss

Dr. Samuel Weiss has removed wisdom teeth for more than two decades, and he has treated the children of some of his first patients. He earned his DMD at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He practiced in the San Fernando Valley for several years before joining Molly Sherman Oaks in 2014, and he has also seen patients at Molly Thousand Oaks since it opened.

His focus is wisdom teeth, including deeply impacted teeth near the nerve or sinus, and difficult extractions. He plans impacted cases on a 3D CBCT scan and explains the specific risks for each tooth before surgery. He performs most procedures under IV sedation, with continuous monitoring of heart rhythm, oxygen and breathing, and he has a particular knack for anxious adults who have put off surgery for years.

Dr. Weiss is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Patients say he is reassuring without being dismissive. He tells them how long the surgery will take, what they will remember, and how most people feel on day two and day five. Younger surgeons at Molly often sit in on his consultations to watch how he explains anesthesia.

Outside the operating room

He hikes Malibu Creek State Park, plays chess in a Sherman Oaks club, and is teaching his grandson to fish at Lake Sherwood.

What patients say about Dr. Weiss

Google

I put off my wisdom teeth for ten years because I was terrified of being sedated. Dr. Weiss spent the whole consult answering my questions without rushing. On surgery day the IV was the worst part, and that was nothing. He called me that evening himself.

Dr. Weiss took out my daughter's impacted wisdom teeth. She was very anxious and he spent extra time at the consult answering every question. He called that evening, and she was back to her summer job in four days.
