Dr. Maya Castellanos, DMD, MS

Dr. Maya Castellanos is Molly’s prosthodontist on the Westside. She earned her DMD at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed her specialty training and a Master of Science in advanced prosthodontics at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. She joined Molly in 2011 and works most closely with Dr. Daniel Reyes on full-arch cases at Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

A prosthodontist plans the teeth before the surgeon plans the implants, and that is where she spends much of her time. She photographs and scans each patient, builds a digital design of the new smile, and checks it with the patient before surgery is scheduled. On surgery day she fits the fixed temporary teeth. Over the next few months she adjusts the bite, the shape of the teeth and how they meet the lips, then makes the final bridge. She also designs implant-supported dentures for patients who prefer something they can remove to clean.

Dr. Castellanos is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. Patients appreciate her eye for detail and her honesty about what to expect. She explains that a full-arch bridge is a long-term commitment that needs cleaning, check-ups and occasional repairs, and she makes sure every patient leaves knowing how to care for it.
