Dr. Arjun Mehta, DDS, MD

Dr. Arjun Mehta is known at Molly Santa Monica and Molly Torrance for explaining things twice, once with the scan and once with a drawing, until a patient is comfortable. He studied molecular biology at UC Berkeley, earned his DDS at the NYU College of Dentistry and his MD at the NYU School of Medicine, and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at NYU Langone and Bellevue Hospital. He came home to California and joined Molly in 2013.

His practice is a mix of wisdom teeth and implants. He sees many college students from UCLA, Santa Monica College and El Camino College, often with impacted lower wisdom teeth that sit close to the nerve. For those cases he reviews a 3D CBCT scan with the patient and explains the specific risks before scheduling, and in some cases recommends a staged or partial approach. On the implant side he handles extractions, socket grafting and implant placement, coordinating closely with the patient’s own dentist for the crown.

Dr. Mehta is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Patients and parents tend to remember that he called the evening after surgery and that he answered the questions they forgot to ask at the consultation. He speaks Hindi and Gujarati, which many families in the South Bay appreciate, and he keeps a few minutes free at the end of each surgery morning for follow-up calls.
