Dr. Lauren Mitchell, DDS, MD

Dr. Lauren Mitchell grew up in Wisconsin and came to Southern California after residency for the ocean, then stayed for her patients. She earned her DDS at the Marquette University School of Dentistry and her MD at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She joined Molly Huntington Beach in 2017 and also sees patients at Molly Fullerton.

Her practice is broad: wisdom teeth, including impacted teeth that sit near the nerve, difficult extractions, and dental implants for patients who have lost a tooth. In Fullerton many of her patients are Cal State Fullerton students. In Huntington Beach they range from high schoolers to retirees. She plans impacted cases on a 3D CBCT scan, explains the specific risks for each tooth, and gives every patient a written recovery plan before surgery.

Dr. Mitchell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is the surgeon colleagues ask about benefits, and she wrote Molly’s guide to whether insurance covers wisdom teeth removal. Patients say she takes the mystery out of an estimate: what the codes mean, which plan pays for what, and what is likely to be left over. Her team checks both dental and medical coverage before anything is scheduled.
