Oral Surgery Assistant

Assist Molly’s surgeons at our Irvine office on Sand Canyon Avenue with wisdom teeth, implants and full-arch cases, most of them under IV sedation or general anesthesia. Surgery days start at 7:30 and Fridays end at 2:00. We train you on our monitoring and recovery protocols and support you in earning the California Dental Sedation Assistant permit.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare operatories, instruments and implant kits for each case and keep sterilization logs current
  • Assist chairside with extractions, wisdom teeth, bone grafting, implant placement and full-arch surgery
  • Take 3D CBCT scans and intraoral photos, and prepare platelet-rich fibrin when the surgeon orders it
  • Help monitor patients under IV sedation and general anesthesia (ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography) as your permit allows
  • Walk patients and escorts through post-operative instructions and recovery before discharge
  • Restock emergency carts and help run the office’s monthly emergency drills

What you’ll bring

  • Current California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license, or a Dental Sedation Assistant (DSA) permit; RDAs are supported in earning the DSA permit
  • California radiation safety certificate, and the Dental Board’s infection control and Dental Practice Act courses
  • Current BLS for healthcare providers
  • One or more years assisting in oral surgery or another surgical specialty preferred; strong general dental assistants considered
  • A calm, steady manner with nervous patients and an eye for detail in sterile technique
